Cloning Is Not Without Opposition - 1278 Words
Cloning is a vital technology that humanity should strive to perfect, despite the many obstacles it currently faces in development and application. Approximately 100 species become extinct a day. Among them are flora and fauna that could hold the cures for cancer, HIV, or any other disease. Cloning technology could preserve and restore these vitally important animals. As of now, the technology is far from usable. Most experiments have resulted in the death of the cloned embryo. However, a few have yielded incredible results. Sheep, mice, and dogs have been successfully cloned and are the first steps towards a huge advancement in biology. However, the advent of cloning is not without opposition. Many believe that the cloning of animals is unethical and of humans taboo. (Hartl) The protesting of stem cell research has already caused enough problems for researchers, and they expect many more when cloning becomes commonplace. Cloning exists in the natural environment, although it is more commonly referred to as self-pollination or asexual reproduction. Many plants and single-celled organisms reproduce partly or solely through these processes. (What) Most flowering plants can reproduce in two ways. In cross-pollination, pollen is produced in one plant and finds its way to an ovule in another plantââ¬â¢s flower. However, a plant can also fertilize its own ovule. This is known as self-pollination or autogamy. Self-pollination results in offspring that have the same genes as the parent,Show MoreRelatedEthical Issues Related to the Cloning Debate1389 Words à |à 6 PagesThe act of cloning a human being comes dangerously close to human beings acting as God. Thus, such love which draws spouses in marriage must be more than physical attachment, sexual attraction, or infatuation. It is the deep commitment of matured persons for each other Marriage is one of the biggest events of an individualââ¬â¢s life. It is not simply a civil contract binding man and woman to accomplish a task. It is the sanctified union of the souls of the spouses. The sanctity of marriage derives from the holiness of God who instituted it and from the honest surrender of manââ¬â¢s will to the natural law of his being. Indeed, man is directed by his nature to marriage without however being compelled to enter it out of necessity. The freedom of choice, even to enter marriage, belongs to the person. Marriage is another phase of oneââ¬â¢s life. It has many responsibilities to perform as a wife or husband and being a parent to your children. Having these roles to play is one of the biggest challenges an individual could face because you are molding the character of your children and how you can make the marriage work out and last. Responsible parenthood and performing your duties as husband and wife are one of the specific challenges in marriage. a) Responsible Parenthood Marriage leads to parenthood. This is the primary purpose of marriage that children are generated and cared for. Children are really the supreme gift of marriage and contribute very substantially to the welfare of their parents. Today, responsible parenthood includes the ability to make an honest decision on the size of the family, on the number of children that couples can manage to care for and to support given their resources. In spite of the intimately private nature of this decision, it has a wide socio-moral implication, making such decision difficult. In many countries, especially those referred to as Third World, the size of the family and the methods to be employed towards this particular objective has become a political controversy. b) Rights and Duties of Husband and Wife The husband and are obliged to live together, observe mutual love, respect and fidelity, and render mutual help and support. The husband and wife shall fix the family domicile. In case of disagreement, the court shall decide. The spouses are jointly responsible for the management of the household. When one of the spouses neglects his or her duties to the union or commits acts which tend to bring danger, dishonor pr injury to the other or to the family, the aggrieved party may apply to the court for relief. 2. What can family and friends do to ease this transition? Everyone needs a friend. As a saying goes, no man is an island. Even if we are already married and have children, we still need our family and friends to support and help us in making us understand what married life is. An individualââ¬â¢s family and friends are of great help if he decides to get married or he/she is already in marriage. These people can lend some helpful advices and tips that would help the marriage life ââ¬Å"easierâ⬠and successful. They are there to guide and support if the married individual struggles to handle inevitable circumstances. 3. One similarity and one difference with this rite, marriage, as compared to KOREAN Culture. Every country has its own culture and traditions. These traditions would determine how we live our lives as individuals. Few years back in Korean culture, arrange or fix marriage is practiced. Parents will be the one to arrange the marriage for their children but recently, this practice is no longer popular. Moreover, wives were formerly regarded as mothers and homemakers, even though many of them (such as those on farms) were actually part of the workforce. Today wives in increasing numbers work outside of the home, often contributing substantially to the family income. This change has been due in part to the changing status of women in society. It has been made possible by the development of effective methods of birth control and of day-care centers for preschool children. Furthermore, the foundation of the family is marriage, which provides the cultural mechanism to insure its continuity. The family performs varied functions, among them the sex and parental function, socialization and social control, biological maintenance, status placement, and economic, religious, educational, recreational, and political functions. A Man Pushed to the Edge essays
A Man Pushed to the Edge essays I ask, is it possable for obsession, desperation, and tradgity to push a man over the edge of sanity to maddness? The film The Field, written/directed by Jim Shariden and produced by Noel Pierson, shows one man's obsession with his field causes many tradgic events to occur. McCabe, played by Richard Harrison, is obsessed over a field that has been in his family for years, that had been bought by an English lady from his father durring the potato famine. McCabe now rents that land from her to keep the land n the family. One of the main problems in the filmis that the widow decides to sell the farm by putting it up for aution. McCabe is fine with the autioning off of the land because he knows that no one in the village would take the chance and bid against him. A critic for the Desert Sun News remarks that "...the larger-than-life "Bull" McCabe, a bearish bully who has terrozied his tiny village-not to mention his family-for years"(Hicks). In other words "The Bull" McCabe has alot of pull in the village and no one dare to cross him. Though in McCabe's mind the land was already his, there was a quick reality check in store. An outsider, which they called The American, played by Tom Berringer, unknowingly bid against McCabe and The American was willing to double and bid that McCabe made. In some senses The American could be viewed as the villian in this story. His idea was to bring this small Irish villige into a nw age by cementing McCabe's field in a campain for Roads and Factories. I believe that the fact that The American is rather ignorant to the way of life of those in the village slightly sways him away from the villiness type, because he belived he was doing something good by helping the town progress. ...

Most of the people resorting to abortion are teenagers. Most women who go on abortion do the act by themselves. The most common method used by women in abortion is by taking abortifacients. Example of an introduction to an abortion research paper Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before it is viable, usually before the pregnancy is before its 25th week. There are two types of abortion, spontaneous and induced. Spontaneous abortion is one which occurs naturally due to some complications during pregnancy or due to trauma occurring to the mother or the fetus. An induced abortion is one which was done intentionally. More and more teenagers opt to undergo induced abortion in the US. Trends in the number of abortions by females aged 13 to 18 show a significant increase from 2015 to 2016 ( this should be supported by statistical data from reliable source/s). To be able to know why teenagers resort to this practice, the study has the following specific questions: Determine the circumstances that lead to the pregnancy. Determine the reasons why the respondents opted to terminate their pregnancy. Identify the methodology they used to terminate their pregnancy. How to write body paragraphs for a research paper on abortion The body of the paper covers the methodology and the results from the data gathering. Paragraphs on the methodology part may be subdivided into: methodology to be used; how to do data gathering using the methodology; the number of respondents needed in the study and a description of the respondents; and how long the data gathering will be done. For the results and discussion, the paragraphs may contain a little introduction on the general findings and then each paragraph will contain the answer to each question asked in the interview or survey and the results of the survey or interview. This is followed by an interpretation of the data gathered. Tips on body writing Determine the number of respondents that you need. Research on good methodologies to be used that matches the type of research you are using. Some questions are answered by surveys, some by interviews and some by observations. Provide statistical data as well as observations on your presentation of data. If some of the respondents have stated something you know is good to include on the paper, then include it on the paper. Be truthful with what you will write on the results even if it is different from what you have expected. You shouldnââ¬â¢t also plagiarize and provide proper citations if you need to support your findings with other researches from other authors. This is one of the ethics of research writing. If you used many different methods and you have a lot of data, divide these per theme and then present it per theme to make your data presentation organized. Example of the 1st body paragraph For the first body paragraph on the presentation of data one may write the following: There are various circumstances that lead to the pregnancy of the respondents, most answers were because of curiosity. However, some of the respondents got pregnant because of rape. In a nutshell, there is a number of other reasons among the most widespread. Example of the 2nd body paragraph There are various reasons that made the respondents opt to have their pregnancy terminated. Most of the answers are due to reasons that they are not yet ready for the pregnancy. Based on national statistics from a research done by (mention author and year), most females aged 13-17 terminate their pregnancy also due to the same reason. â⬠¨ Example of the 3rd body paragraph The methodologies used by the respondents to terminate their pregnancy were the use of abortifacients by their own, going to a licensed medical practitioner, going to an unlicensed abortionist and doing it on their own by the help of a friend or partner. Most of them opted for the use of abortifacients. Most of them said that it is easy to buy such medicine online. Some respondents also sought medical help and a few respondents did the termination by themselves. How to finish a research paper on abortion To finish a research paper, write a concluding paragraph. This summarizes the findings, also still answering the research questions. Tips on conclusion writing In writing a conclusion, a writer may write one paragraph that summarizes all the findings. Make sure that the main answer to each research question should be stated in the conclusion. A student may write one or two sentence/s to provide an answer to each of the research question. Example of a conclusion From data gathered on the research paper, the main reason that leads to the pregnancy among teenage females in the US is because of curiosity. The main reason, on the other hand of terminating the pregnancy, is because they are not yet ready to face parental responsibilities. Thus, there should be a huge work done to inform teenage females about all negative impacts of interrupting pregnancy so to ensure that abortion was a well-thought-out decision. Tips on research paper revision Revising a research paper will be less taxing than starting one. The following should be taken note of. Take note on the revisions suggested by the editor or adviser and do those revisions first. Do revisions per section or per chapter so it will be easier. The Bernie Madoff Scandal - Case Study Example This paper illustrates that the Bernie Madoff Scandal was discovered by one of the Modoffsââ¬â¢ son when Madoff decided to pay up to $7 billion redemptions or bonuses upfront after showing the inability to pay investors. The sons demanded to know the source of the funds and father admitted that his asset management arm of his firm was actually being operated as a Ponzi scheme in which new investments covered returns from the existing or earlier investments and personal wealth. Upon discovering the fraud, the son did what the unexpected and took up the matter with the federal authorities leading to the arrest of Madoff. Madoff revealed that he had run the scheme for approximately 20 years since the early 1990s. It was discovered that over the years Mr. Madoff was actually using money from new investors to pay returns to old investors creating a pyramid resembling a previous scheme named after Charles Ponzi. Although Mr. Madoff was operating within hedge fund industry, his fund was not a hedge fund, but endowments and foundations after the hedge funds invested heavily with his company. Madoffââ¬â¢s strategy to pay old investors with funds obtained from new investors enables his firm to satisfy the high returns promised to investors despite failure by the old investments to generate any returns. Investors expected that their funds were invested elsewhere by the company to generate returns, but Madoff deposited all the funds in his business account at Chase Manhattan Bank. In order to hide the reality in his company, he creatively came up with false transactions involving falsified SEC filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission and foreign transfers year after year. Modoffââ¬â¢s fraud dealings also most surfaced in 1999 when Harry Markopolos, a financial analyst-whistleblower alerted the securities and commission that his gains were impractical in the financial situation.
